Background - City-Wide Deployment of Security Cameras
WCCTV has partnered with STS360 (Security Technology Solutions), a Texas-based integrated security technology solutions provider, to install 1,500 WCCTV Rapid Deployment Cameras across Dallas as part of the City's and the Dallas Police Department’s (DPD) six-year public safety project.
The Challenge
To ensure the seamless rollout of such a large-scale camera deployment, WCCTV needed to partner with a well-established, trusted security solutions installer.
Alongside the camera installation process, the City also required additional integration pathways for the cameras into the City of Dallas Command and Control Center, facial recognition system, and FirstNet and VZW 5G development platform.
This integration pathway was essential to the City's overall security strategy and would enable multiple agencies to collaborate on a single platform.
The Solution
The collaboration between WCCTV and STS360 resulted in the successful deployment of the pole cameras with minimal impact on city officials or the general public.
All our pole cameras are easy to install on any utility pole or building, making them ideal for rapid deployment and as an effective crime-fighting tool for overt surveillance and security operations.
The WCCTV Cameras have a range of features such as an HD PTZ Camera, 4TB of onboard recording capacity, wireless transmission technology, and remote viewing via a free mobile app or desktop software.
STS360 also assisted in installing 500 WCCTV Covert Pole Cameras, which provide an all-in-one portable covert video surveillance solution that blends into the surroundings while offering an HD PTZ camera, 4TB video recording, and 4G LTE transmission.
All the overt and covert pole cameras have been fully integrated with the City of Dallas Command and Control Center, FirstNet, and VZW 5G development platform. With further development, they can be integrated with the City of Dallas and DPD’s Facial Recognition System.
The Result
WCCTV and STS360 deployed 1,500 WCCTV Rapid Deployment Overt and Covert Pole Cameras across the City of Dallas as part of a six-year project to improve public safety. The cameras are operational 24/7 and can be relocated to target crime hotspots if necessary.
The cameras are viewed and controlled remotely from the City of Dallas Command and Control Center, allowing users to assess situations and record evidential footage when needed easily. Also, having the cameras enables users to fully inform law enforcement of situations occurring across the City of Dallas, enabling the DPD to respond appropriately.
Having overt cameras in place not only improves public safety from a response perspective but also acts as a deterrent to would-be felons. Likewise, the covert cameras enable law enforcement to assess situations and gather vital evidence of criminal activity across the city.
