Client Use Case - Infrastructure Project Security

WCCTV recently secured a major infrastructure upgrade project at LAX Airport. The Auxiliary Curbs project aimed to ease access to and from the airport by increasing parking capacity by installing new curbs and expanding existing ones.

As this project was being developed next to an existing rent-a-car space and where private and commercial cars access the airport, there was a strong need for security to manage the risks.

Construction jobsites are prime targets for theft, vandalism, and trespassing. Swinerton, the project's primary contractor, was seeking surveillance that could address these industry-specific challenges.

Additionally, the type of security expected needed to offer 24/7 monitoring and a proactive response to prevent crime when staff were not actively on site.

The Challenges

Due to the profits to be earned from construction materials, assets, and machinery, construction jobsites in California are popular targets for thieves. 

This type of crime can be costly to contractors and create delays on projects, which impacts the client and the ultimate purpose of the construction development. Therefore, securing a construction jobsite is vital to the survival of such a project, especially for the LAX Airport project, which spans a large area.

Additionally, this project is linked to enhancing customer parking experiences and renovating current spaces; any delays would prevent the use of existing spaces and could have a knock-on effect on the airport's functionality.
