How Managed Surveillance Cameras Work

Every WCCTV mobile surveillance camera can be backed by a comprehensive service designed to maximize effectiveness while minimizing the users' requirement to manage the units.

We aim to make using our surveillance cameras as easy as possible by providing a step-by-step process that reduces client workload and a service that ensures the cameras deliver the right results every time.

Below, we detail how this process works and highlight some key benefits of utilizing a managed security service.

Why Use Managed Surveillance Cameras?

Installing surveillance cameras at a construction site, energy facility, parking lot, or public space should provide peace of mind that your properties are protected.

But can you be certain that everything is working the way it should be? Are the cameras online? Are they recording? Are they pointing in the right direction?

Connecting to the cameras to manually check they are working correctly can be time-consuming and take you away from other important work.

That's why ensuring you have the right surveillance process backed by a comprehensive service plan is essential.

It provides the absolute certainty that your cameras are correctly installed, online, recording, and ready to detect activity at your sites so that when they are needed most, they'll be ready.

Using a managed service provider also helps ensure you have the most appropriate technology for your application. If criminal activity is detected at your site, a security professional is watching and ready to respond.

When you choose WCCTV as your security provider, you will benefit from an end-to-end security process that covers all this and more.

How Does WCCTV's Managed Service Work?

Below are the key steps in the WCCTV managed service. Each service element ensures we deliver a security solution that is fully customized to your particular needs.

Expert Advice From a Team of Security Professionals

When you choose a mobile security system from WCCTV, your first step will be to speak with one of our highly experienced security professionals.

They will ask you key questions about the site you want to protect to ensure we can offer a surveillance solution that perfectly matches your requirements.

These questions will focus on power availability, the size and layout of your site, any vulnerable areas such as access points and sheltered areas, and what hours of the day you need the site protecting.

We will also take the time to learn more about your specific requirements and the biggest security risks your locations will likely face.

Depending on your location, one of our security experts can undertake a site walk to understand your requirements better.

Learning more about your needs will help our security experts determine the optimal locations for the camera (or cameras) to ensure no blind spots in the surveillance system they set up for you.

It will also help us determine whether we need to utilize video analytics to cover potentially vulnerable areas and whether we need to supply a solar-powered camera for power autonomy.

Professional Installation Services

As part of WCCTV's managed security service, you will also have access to our team of camera installation technicians.

They will visit your site and install all the equipment you require, whether that's a WCCTV pole-mounted camera, a mobile surveillance trailer, a time lapse video camera - or a combination.

They will also assist with the configuration of the systems, including:

  • Positioning the solar arrays (if required)

  • Setting up video analytics

  • Installing alarms, sirens, and audio-voice down systems

  • Setting up with our free and unlicenced viewing software / mobile app

  • Testing all detection zones

Professional Alarm Monitoring Services

Security cameras are a powerful visual deterrent and help investigate any criminal activity.

But when a team of security professionals remotely monitors them, they act as a virtual security guard - always awake and always on guard.

All of WCCTV's mobile video surveillance cameras deliver live and recorded video via 4G LTE, which can be sent directly to an Interactive Surveillance Operations Center (ISOC).

The security professionals at the ISOC will immediately review the footage to verify the alarm and then take appropriate action - dispatch mobile guards or contact law enforcement to ensure your sites are protected.

The Benefits of Remote Video Monitoring

Ongoing Remote Diagnostics and Maintenance

WCCTV's mobile surveillance units have an ongoing remote diagnostics solution as standard. This is known as the WCCTV Heartbeat.

Twice a day, every day, Heartbeat will check:

  • Connection Issues: Reports when the connection to the surveillance unit fails, or the unit goes offline

  • Camera Failures: Detects if a camera has developed a fault or is tampered with

  • Hard Disk Failures: Detects hard disk failures or if it stops recording

  • Recording Issues: Reports if the system records for less than expected

  • Time & Date Inaccuracy: Reports when the time is incorrect or tampered with

A simple power reboot can resolve up to 99% of these issues. That's why WCCTV supplies all our surveillance cameras with the WCCTV Smart Switch, an automated power switch that allows for a remote reboot.

So there's no need for site visits to reboot your equipment; we'll handle everything remotely for you - most of the time before you even know there's a problem.

How Do We Protect Your Sites?

As part of the WCCTV Managed Service, a world-class security team will monitor your sites - proactively protecting them from theft and criminal damage.

If an intruder is spotted on your site, our team will:

Issue Audio Warnings

Once an intruder alert is verified, our monitoring partners will issue an audio warning from an inbuilt alarm system within WCCTV's security cameras. This could be a:

  • Banshee siren alarm

  • Blue strobe light alarm

  • Audio voice-down warning

  • All of the above

Typically, an audio warning is enough to deter unwanted intruders from causing damage to the property.

Alert Law Enforcement

Sometimes, an audio warning will not be enough to prevent intruders from accessing your sites.

As soon as our ISOC professionals recognize a threat at your site, they immediately dispatch law enforcement and inform them that they will be responding to a real, verified threat that requires immediate assistance.

This level of focus can mean the difference between loss of property, criminal damage, and a successful arrest.

Inform You

Once we have ensured the site has been protected and a response is en route, our team will contact you as the site owner to alert you to the incident.

We understand that there may be damage and/or missing items you must report immediately.

Our team will provide full details on the incident, including what response has been taken and where the incident has occurred.

Keep Watch

Our monitoring partners will continue to monitor the property — including the entire perimeter — both during and after an incident until the police have arrived.

Package Evidence

WCCTV's mobile surveillance cameras contain up to 4TB of onboard recording capacity.

This allows our team to download videos and images of the incident and package these for you in a playable format as part of a full incident report. This evidence can be provided to law enforcement and passed on to insurers.

Deter - Catch - Record

The video below demonstrates the effectiveness of this process in action. If unwanted intruders attempt to access your sites, WCCTV will Deter - Capture - Record.

Who Should Utilize Managed Security Cameras?
