SER Construction: Zero Theft. One App.

WCCTV recently partnered with SER Construction to secure their expanding portfolio of heavy civil engineering and infrastructure projects across Houston, Texas. As a leader in Houston’s development, SER Construction manages high-stakes jobsites that require constant vigilance to maintain project timelines and protect expensive machinery.

As these projects often occur in high-traffic or remote areas where private and commercial vehicles have proximity to the site, there was a strong need for security to manage the risks of unauthorized access and equipment loss. SER Construction was seeking surveillance that could address these industry-specific challenges while remaining cost-effective and scalable.

The Challenges

Due to the high potential profits earned from construction materials, assets, and machinery, jobsites in Houston are popular targets for thieves. For SER Construction, this reality hit following a significant event where both a backhoe and an excavator were stolen from a site.

This type of crime is exceptionally costly to contractors, creating massive financial drains and project delays. It was vital for SER Construction to secure these sites to ensure the survival of a project and maintain the company’s reputation for timely delivery.

Furthermore, the risk of intrusion on construction jobsites poses a public safety and liability issue. Unauthorized individuals accessing a site face hidden dangers; if an injury occurs, the contractors could face serious legal implications and financial penalties.

Beyond theft, SER Construction needed a solution that was quick to deploy. In the fast-moving Houston market, delays in setting up security can leave a jobsite vulnerable during its most critical early phases.

The Solution

SER Construction sought WCCTV’s support to overhaul their site security strategy. With a focus on streamlined efficiency and scalability, we provided a mobile solution tailored to the rapid pace of Houston construction.

To mitigate the risks of theft and trespassing, WCCTV deployed Solar Surveillance Trailers to provide 24/7 live monitoring. These trailers act as a force multiplier for SER Construction, offering a "set-it-and-forget-it" approach that traditional security measures lack.

While traditional security often only records a crime, the proactive nature of our surveillance trailers provides an immediate response through integrated audio alerts.

"The voice-down feature is a total gamechanger; every time a trespasser has entered the site, they’ve left the moment they heard that voice," said SER Construction Safety Field Technician, Rene Tinoco. This active deterrence is matched by a commitment to speed, as WCCTV ensures deployments are completed within a week, with specific camera positioning often finalized within a single day.

As SER Construction scales, the WCCTV App provides a single, easy-to-use interface that allows management to monitor multiple jobsites efficiently from any location. Because these units possess both power autonomy and cellular connectivity, they require no on-site infrastructure. This makes them a perfect, cost-effective solution for temporary jobsites through WCCTV's managed service model.

Tinoco found this especially valuable compared to previous options, stating, "We looked at other competitors, but they were just too pricey for what they offered. WCCTV provides a better, more responsive service."

The Result

Through our on-site solutions, we have supported SER Construction in eliminating theft and changing the way they approach jobsite safety. Since the implementation of our trailers, there have been zero thefts reported by SER Construction.

"Since we started using WCCTV, we haven't had a single theft. It has given me real peace of mind and actually changed how we think about safety—now, we make sure our heavy equipment is always parked in the camera’s line of sight," said Tinoco.

WCCTV's all-in-one solution has provided a more cost-effective and responsive security model, allowing SER Construction to focus on building Houston infrastructure at scale without the constant worry of equipment loss or site interference.
