Austin Commercial - Construction Safety Support

We supported Austin Commercial to protect and deter crime during their construction project at the University of Houston with our Surveillance Trailers.

Secure Your Next Jobsite

Client Use Case - Construction Jobsite Security

Following the University of Houston's announcement of a new Football Operations Center, Austin Commercial was contracted to support the project.

The project involved integrating this new structure with the current Stadium and Indoor Practice Facility, whilst also consolidating an older, smaller facility alongside.

Due to the various elements of the project, there will be multiple entry points, and all of them will require protection to prevent theft and other construction-related crime.

For the project, Austin Commercial required a security option that could protect the laydown areas whilst monitoring the progress of the facility restoration.

The Challenges

The project spans a large perimeter of the University, leaving it exposed to many security risks. Vast spaces are challenging to manage and secure 24/7 due to the amount of coverage required to ensure maximum protection.

Although options like guards can provide patrols and perimeter fencing can create physical deterrence, neither can provide the full coverage needed for a project of this size.

Other issues include a high risk of vagrant activity at the location, as it is next to a train station. Such activity could cause delays, damage, and heavy financial and legal implications if vagrants manage to access the site.

This makes it paramount that the appropriate security measures, or a blend of measures, are used to protect materials, the project timeline, and public safety.

Construction jobsites can be dangerous, and for any intruders who may not be aware of this, serious injury or even death could take place, both of which contractors could be held liable for.

Austin commercial also needed to place heavy focus on preventing theft of materials, equipment, and machinery, as metal theft is on the rise and construction jobsites in Houston are attractive targets.

The Solution - Solar Surveillance Trailers

Given the numerous security challenges associated with this renovation project, Austin Commercial decided to deploy four Surveillance Trailers to monitor the construction

Our Solar Trailers offer a fully managed service that effectively addresses the various challenges faced by the construction industry.

Due to the prevalence of vagrancy, the security measures in place needed to help deter crime and capture any intruders in the act.

Standing at 20 ft tall, they provide a strong security presence that removes criminals from hiding spots, whilst also ensuring high-quality live video monitoring that helps deter, detect, and address active crime.

Other criminal deterrent factors, including live voice-down audio and flashing lights, provide backup support when the presence of a surveillance system alone may not deter intruders.

Fitted with infrared PTZ cameras that provide zoom-in capabilities and a 360-degree view, our Solar Surveillance Trailers use advanced camera technology and additional video analytics to precisely track intruders and vehicles.

Additionally, given the vast area the construction project covered, Austin Commercial required a cost-effective solution to secure the area.

Our Surveillance Trailers are completely power-autonomous and require no internet or power from the construction company. They are both easy to manage and cost-effective, making them a perfect fit for the contractor's requirements.

And unlike guards, our mobile surveillance systems do not require holidays, sick days, or breaks.

The Result

With multiple entry points and the presence of vagrant activity, the renovation project contracted by Austin Commercial presented many security vulnerabilities.

However, by utilizing our Solar Surveillance Trailers, their project successfully protected the construction jobsite from the various issues they faced.

At WCCTV, we focus heavily on easing security concerns; hence, we provide a fully managed service with all our products, so construction businesses like Austin Commercial can be as hands-on or hands-free as they wish.

This service effectively deterred crime and reduced its impact, allowing the University of Houston construction project to continue as needed.

We are proud to be a part of this long-term renovation journey to improve the experience of students at the University in the future and ensure the continued safety for existing staff and students during the construction of this exciting new space.
